Stop Paz's Deportation!

Paz Mendez is a respected community leader involved with Together Colorado and St. Pius Catholic Church in Denver. He is the father of two Dreamers, which are eligible for DACA, and a 6-year-old U.S. citizen. In 2011, Paz was detained and put into removal proceedings. Today, he faces a final removal order that requires him to leave the country by April 4th, 2013.

“We know Paz and his family and they are wonderful community members. They are at most functions/large gatherings, and are the kind of community members that we should welcome and want with open arms. His family will only be an asset to our community, and to not recognize nor give them opportunities for citizenship is an injustice. Paz has said he aspires to become a citizen of this country.” - Jay Rezska, St. Pius X Social Ministry Coordinator.

Paz came to the U.S. in 2001 to escape violence in Mexico and to provide better opportunities for his children. Paz has a hard-working reputation and holds a degree in engineering. He values higher education and sportsmanship, also his entire family is extremely dedicated to their parish. Paz serves on the church’s social justice ministry, he organizes many events, including opening his home for days of prayer and feast.

Paz is the main wage-earner for his family, the family will fall into poverty and our parish community as well as the broader civic community will lose exactly the kind of person we want to come live to this country of freedom and opportunity.
