Denver, CO - Today, after 9 years Colorado ASSET bill (SB-33) passed in Colorado State House 40-21. After the final vote this morning at the capitol there were tears of joy, cheers, prayers of gratitude, and an impromptu celebration circle where one hundred leaders gathered with state legislative sponsors and shared their hope for finally having access to college as a result of passage of ASSET.

" Today, we are crying tears of joy," said Cesiah Guadarrama Together Colorado leader and Westminster High School Senior. " I thank everyone who helped over these past 10 years for their support. I couldn't have dreamed of a better graduation present than ASSET passing!"

Together Colorado has been working for 9 years to pass ASSET! Our efforts along with our partners in the Higher Education Access Alliance are a demonstration of perseverance, public will building, the power of the personal stories to change hearts and powerful coalition building.

" As faith leaders, we believe that Colorado ASSET is good for the economy," said Rev. Nelson Bock. "It's good for our education system and it is fundamentally just to offer hope for the thousands of young Colorado high school graduates who wish to go to college, but cannot afford out of state tuition. We are grateful for the passing of ASSET!"
