VP Joe Biden Faith Advisor on Gun Violence to Speak on Sunday at Forum

A forum about gun violence, mass incarceration, and the complexities of the cradle to prison pipeline in Colorado

 

What: Together Colorado is launching Lifelines to Healing campaign in Colorado with a community action and forum event, on August 18, from 5 to 7 p.m., called "Did You Know?" Pastor Michael McBride, Keynote Speaker and Director of Lifelines to Healing, Vice President Biden Faith Advisor on Gun Violence, will be speaking about the history of the Lifelines to Healing movement and the national implications of gun violence and mass incarceration. Additionally, local guest panelists at the forum will be discussing the complexity of mass incarceration, gun violence, and how we will eradicate the cradle to prison pipeline in Colorado.  Together Colorado leaders will talk about next steps and develop a strategic plan for the 2014 Legislative Session. The forum is expected to draw close to 400 faith leaders and community members throughout Colorado.

 

Why: Together Colorado faith leaders and community members are launching the Lifelines to Healing campaign in order to educate agitate, and mobilize people around the injustices and cycles oppression leading to gun violence and mass incarceration. Faith leaders have heard the pain of broken families, broken education, broken jobs; felt the pain of the devastation of drugs and violence destructing our communities in Colorado.

 

When: Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m.
