We are horrified and heartbroken by the violent antisemitic attack that took place in Boulder on Sunday, where individuals participating in a peaceful march for the safe return of hostages were targeted with an incendiary device. At least eight people were injured in this appalling act of hate.

This attack follows the May 22nd killing of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., and is part of a rising wave of antisemitic violence across the country. These incidents threaten the safety of our Jewish neighbors and the moral fabric of our multifaith democracy.

To our Jewish siblings: we see you, and we stand with you. In times of fear and pain, we offer not only prayers and compassion, but sustained action and solidarity. Together Colorado is a community rooted in faith and committed to building beloved communities across race, faith, and class. We know that hate thrives in isolation — but love and justice are born in relationships.

As people of many faiths and backgrounds, we must reject the ideologies that dehumanize and divide. We must resist antisemitism with the same clarity and commitment that we bring to resisting all forms of bigotry and violence.

This was not just an attack on individuals — it was an attack on our shared humanity. We will not meet hate with silence. We recommit to building a Colorado where all communities are safe and free to thrive.
