Join Together Colorado as we host the final Faithful Tuesdays event of 2019 TOMORROW at the Colorado State Capitol (South Foyer). Our topic for this upcoming Faithful Tuesday will be a Closing Celebration and Lament with an address by Governor Jared Polis!
We will celebrate the passing of SB-139 to expand access to driver’s licenses for Colorado immigrants by opening six more SB-251 offices for a total of ten offices statewide. We will celebrate passing HB-1004 to study a public healthcare option in the hopes that all Coloradans will have affordable and accessible healthcare soon. We will celebrate the organizing work accomplished to secure affordable housing legislation.
While we celebrate the legislative wins, we have much to lament. Coloradans are in pain and common-sense policies that would have helped hundreds of thousands of people failed. We lament that the FAMLI Act died in the Senate, that robust protections for our immigrant communities never made it to the floor, that the elimination of the death penalty failed, and that state employees remain without collective bargaining rights.
We believe deeply that all people should have the opportunity to thrive, without exception. Please join us on April 30 to lift up the policies that passed and lament those that died in the legislature.
We hope you can join!
