The June Solstice or December Solstice is the point when the Sun appears to reach its most northerly or southerly excursion relative to the celestial equator of our home, the Earth. The equinox is the time when the Sun reaches the equator. Many faiths or spiritual practices use these celestial events as the calendar for their liturgical or community celebrations, e.g. Easter or New Years.  

May our awareness of our common home, the Earth, and its relationship to the Sun be a source of contemplation practice. May our faith/community celebrations be a source of reflection on living in harmony with our Earth.
