Faith Voices: Pursuing a Just Society Prayer – Rev. Dr. Anne Rice-Jones

Scripture: “Justice, justice you shall pursue!”
(Deuteronomy 16:20)

God of Justice and God of Righteousness, you created us in your own image and likeness. You commanded us to, ” Love your neighbor as yourself.”

God, open our eyes to injustices around us, especially those we have overlooked. God, grant us your wisdom in how we take action, confront wrong and care for the marginalized and the disadvantaged.

God, open our ears to injustices around us, especially those we have ignored. God, grant us your humility to stop and listen to the cries, cares and concerns of those who are treated unjustly.

God, open our hearts to injustices around us, especially those we have accepted. God, grant us boldness to stand-up, speak out and challenge the status quo.

God, open our minds to injustices around us, especially to identify and call out injustices. God, grant us renewed faith in the goal of developing and maintaining a just society, utilizing strong active community engagement.

God, open our spirit to injustices around us, especially in our pursuit of equality, equity and inclusive social protection. God, grant us a society where all are secure economically,  emotionally, spiritually and socially.

We pray God, that you will right the wrongs and vindicate those who are impacted. God, grant legislation and governance that are inclusive and fair.

Thank you God, for granting us a vision of your world, where different races and cultures live in peaceful harmony and mutual respect.

Peace, Shalom, Salaam. Amen
