We recognize the brokenness of our world and the brokenness within ourselves. We also recognize that the suffering this causes is not borne equally. Our participation in this justice-seeking work helps us to respond to this brokenness and to be in relationship with immigrant families who are suffering. Our values that honor the worth and dignity of everyone place us with the deported, those who cross deserts and rivers, the children in cages, the overworked and underpaid, the trafficked, the jailed, with those being returned to devastated homelands and war, and those being torn from the families and people they love. Though we are brokenhearted about the present, we choose to continue because our people need us and we need them to continue to show us the way to a loving and just future.
